The humane society and its animal shelter of Weil am Rhein is located in the far south of town in a rural surrounding just about ten steps from the Swiss border.
The building is named after Emma Paolini, a local dialect poet who had made a substantial donation, that allowed to create this building.
The building has several separated large sections for lost cats, dogs, and rodents. The station employs two animal care professionals, but the rest of the work is done by volunteers.
