PC Penrose, known to everyone as Rosie, has come back from Slagcaster to look after his dying mother. On his return he finds that his mother is in rude health and that his Uncle Norman is under both his Aunt Ida’s thumb, and his mothers. To complete his woman trouble, his girlfriend Gillian is still trying to get engaged to him.
Rosie is out on patrol with PC Wilmot when he runs into Uncle Norman and his mother and Aunt Ida acting as back seat drivers. Rosie is spared too much embarrassment when he and Wilmot are called to a disturbance at a pub. The disturbance is being caused by a drunk with woman trouble. Order is restored as Rosie and Wilmot commiserate with the man.
