Life size statue of Sam Houston, standing. Dressed in buckskin garb. Ney sculpted Houston at about age 40; the age he was when he first came to Texas and took on the leadership of the Texas revolutionary army and soon after, the Republic of Texas.
The statue stands on one side of the rotunda at the Capitol Building in Austin, TX. A replica of the statue stands in the National Capitol in Washington, D.C. Another replica is on display at the Bullock Museum, in Austin, TX.
