The young lady next to Daniel Bunce has a guilty look - probably due to being caught with a specimen of Sturt’s desert pea intended for her flower press book. The curator had to take steps to stop the pilfering of flowers from the gardens.
These sculpted bollards are part of the iconic colourful bollards found around Geelong, mostly along the waterfront. These wooden characters depict the fascinating history and development of Geelong. They were created between 1994 and 1999 for the Geelong City Council by Jan Mitchell (1940-2008), who was assisted by carver Pieter Roos and artist John Starr.
