This is the site of the Eastern Parkside Baths built in 1930. It was one of many bathing enclosures established around the bay at the time. These Eastern Beach Open Sea Bathers, wearing their very respectable 1920s one-piece costumes, are running down to the sea. The tradition at the time was to run to the water with the rope from the winch held above their heads.

These sculpted bollards are part of the iconic colourful bollards along the Geelong waterfront. These wooden characters depict the fascinating history and development of Geelong. They were created between 1994 and 1999 for the Geelong City Council by Jan Mitchell (1940-2008), who was assisted by carver Pieter Roos and artist John Starr.
