Calligraph LC is a 137" by 85" by 15" abstract copper sculpture that was created by Herbert Ferber (1906-1991) between 1967 and 1968. Ferber was a pioneer in the creation of abstract sculptures composed of welded hollow metal forms that “pierced” space. Calligraph LC exemplifies this style. The large sculpture has curved and pointed elements that resemble calligraphic characters.

The sculpture was a gift to the College from Edith Ferber, the wife of the sculptor. A sign on the wall near the sculpture is inscribed:
