'“Trompe l’oeil,” or fool the eye, murals decorate Greenville’s downtown area. Currently a total of seven murals decorate Greenville’s buildings. The murals were created by local artist, John Hubbell. The murals are three-dimensional in appearance. Visitors to Greenville enjoy photographing themselves as if they are part of the murals." ~ Greenville Chamber of Commerce

"On this northwest corner of the square, the former Hotel Eureka (better known as the Franklin House) once stood. It served as the old stage coach house and was “the best house in town, two stories high, with a double porch on the front, and withal a fine building for those days.” Lincoln stopped at this hotel when he visited Greenville in 1858 during the Lincoln and Douglas campaign." ~ Greenville Main Street
