Old incinerator has been turned into a huge Tin Soldier, with a face pointing in both directions so you can see him from Loop 340 no matter which way you are driving.

Smith Furniture Manufacturing Co (bldg. for lease)used to burn scrap wood in the incinerator. When they went out of business the incinerator became an eyesore. Finally someone came up with the idea of turning it into an asset. Can be seen from Loop 340 but a closer view can be achieved from the parking lot at 5900 Franklin Avenue.
