This display of old mining equipment is part of the Hidden Treasure Gold Mine in Columbia State Historic Park. A water pump and a water wheel used for gold panning in the 1850s are today part of a hands on experience.

The machines have been on display since the place became a State Park in 1945.

During the week (when we visited) they are just on display. At the weekend, however, they are used for demonstrations, giving children a chance to experience gold panning as the Fourtyniners did.

Type of Machine: water pump and water wheel

Year the machine was built: 1856

Year the machine was put on display: 1945

Is there online documentation for this machine: Not listed
