The church of St. Bartholomew is the oldest preserved building in the city quarter Prague 14. This parish church, dedicated to one of Christ's apostles - to St. Bartholomew, is located in the place of ancient farming settlement called Keje, which was since long ago a property of Prague bishops. St. Bartholomew is parish church of Kyje Roman Catholic parish.
St. Bartholomew is a classical example of early medieveal fortress-type tribune church. The church is a single-aisle Romanesque structure built from sandstone ashlars with square choir, rectangular aisle, tribune in massive prismatic western tower (wide as church's body) with system of stairs and corridors. The church was probably founded by 20th Bishop of Prague, Jan II (1226-1236).
