I found no information on George C. Jackson.

This is a very early example of a Woodman marker. This ornate tree stump has an axe and maul resting on a branch with "W(oodmen) of the W(orld)". The inscription is a scroll tied to the tree. A Lily is carved in high relief at the bottom of the stump.
