CAMP CLARK, entered through a gray-stone archway, is the summer training quarters of the Missouri National Guard. Approximately 2500 militiamen are gathered here each August for military training and maneuvers. – Missouri: A Guide to the "Show Me" State,1941, Tour 10, pgs. 503-504.

Camp Clark continues to serve as a Missouri National Guard training post. During World War II it served as a POW internment camp for both German and Italian prisoners of war. Currently half the post is owned by the state of Missouri and the other by the federal government.
