THE YMIR HOSPITAL

The Ymir Hospital was built in 1909 on the north edge of town. Charlotte Nicholson was matron in charge, looking after Sheep Creek, Erie & Ymir mining camps. This hospital was a great improvement to Ymir as it enabled the sick, injured or pregnant to be treated in a professional environment instead of in their own home. The hospital served a great many people up until its destruction by fire in 1929.
