The Rockingham House was built as a residence of King Family in 1809/10 by the famous architect John Nash. In 1957 it was destroyed by fire and in 1970s the ruin was demolished. Selected stones have ben put on display near the piers.
The area is now a part of Lough Key Forest Park, a popular recreational spot.
