Strange wording on this marker, the bell is ...but then again ... it isn't. They bought a bell for the courthouse tower, but it never got out of the yard.

ORIGINAL COURTHOUSE BELL
Purchased - 1919 - Weight 800#
This bell never was installed in the courthouse. The 1200 pound Purcell School Bell, which now rings in the clock tower, was favored because of better quality. It was first installed in February, 1920.
