He and his wife are named on a large obilisk. A recent plaque in honor of Leon Hamilton tells more of Gen. Wright.
He was appointed commander of the Pacific Coast during the Civil War by President A. Lincoln.

born in 1803, died at the end of the Civil War. How many generals made it to California?? He would have been Union. He was aboard the ship Brother Jonathon that wrecked.
