The "Cerro Negro" (English: Black Mountain) is located in the western side of the province of Panama, in the district of Capira, at the border of the Altos de Campana National Park.

Being part of the central mountain range cross-sectioning Panama, this summit has one antenna for the radio network that covers the Panama Canal hydrographic river basin. Its top features an heliport for easy accessing, a control room used by the installation maintenance staff, and a myriad of the most wonderful and diverse kind of insects flying around.
The way to the top has a very dense tropical rainforest with amazing views of other summits and countrysides. On an early summer morning, chances are the upper sorroundings highlight a breathtaking cloudy path.
