Apostelkirche Gelsenkirchen-Buer is a monument since 2/4/1987. It is the oldest Lutheran church in this part of the town.
It was built 1892 - 1893 by the architects Flügge and Nordmann and the Baumeister Hertel.
There are 350 seats, and the church was renovated in 2011.
1997 coal miners of the colliery Hugo gave the title "Church of Solidarity" to the Apostelkirche. They had occupied the church for 40 days in protest about the factory closure.

The bell tower is decorated with this beautiful clock. There is a circle of bricks where the black and grey coloured face is mounted. The hands and the Roman numbers are golden.
