A 15' high by 4' square marble obelisk honors the citizens of Cherry Valley who died during the Civil War. On top of the obelisk is a 2.5' high by 3' wide bronze eagle. The shaft and base are inscribed on all four sides.

The front of the obelisk has a carved trophy with crossed flags and swords on the shaft and a pyramid of three muskets on the base. Inscribed on the shaft in raised lettering on upper band SEC. BULL RUN on the lower band PETERSBURG. Inscribed in incised letters:
