Organized Sept. 1927, the Liberty Borough Volunteer Fire Department is located approximately ten miles south of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Sitting between the Monongahela and Youghiogheny rivers, and primarily serves a one square mile area protecting 2670 residents. The department is an all volunteer department comprised of 40 highly trained firefighters, vehicle rescue technicians and emergency medical technicians. LBVFD responds to an average of 170 fire related calls a year and also provides a first responder program, assisting Elizabeth Township Area Emergency Medical Service, on an average of 30 runs a year.
