While visiting the little village of Naples, we stopped by the fire hall and were lucky in that we found the fire chief to be at the hall. He graciously invited us in for a photo op, an invitation which we immediately accepted.

This engine is in the stable of the South Boundary Fire Protection District Station No. 1 in the little hamlet of Naples. It is a Ferrera Intruder Pumper of about 1,500 gallon capacity and a cab capacity of five. It also has a transverse control panel with a water cannon mounted immediately behind it, features which the boys are going to appreciate as they get used to their new pumper. Ferrera engines are manufactured in Louisiana by Ferrara Fire Apparatus which dates to 1979.

This pumper was bought used from another department in the south and driven back to Naples by the fire chief and another fire fighter. Upon arrival the initial plan was to repaint the pumper red, as were the rest of the department's vehicles. However, everyone who saw the vehicle loved the blue and white, and so it has remained wearing those colors.
