François Maurice Adrien Marie Mitterrand (* 26. Oktober 1916 in Jarnac, Charente; † 8. Januar 1996 in Paris) war ein französischer Politiker der Sozialistischen Partei (PS) sowie von Mitte 1981 bis Mitte 1995 französischer Staatspräsident.
Am 27. Oktober 1986 erhielt er Ehrenbürgerschaft der Stadt Frankfurt am Main. Am 27. Oktober 2008 wurde der umgestaltete Bittersdorffplatz "zu Ehren des herausragenden französischen Staatsmannes und Politikers, des bedeutenden Literaten, vor allem aber des überzeugenden und engagierten Europäer, des Freundes Deutschlands und der Deutschen"[1] in François-Mitterrand-Platz umbenannt und diese Gedenktafel aufgestellt.
François Maurice Adrien Marie Mitterrand (* 26. October 1916 in Jarnac, Charente; † 8. January 1996 in Paris) was a French politician of the Socialist Party (PS), and from mid-1981 to mid-1995 French President.
On October 27, 1986 he received honorary citizenship from the city of Frankfurt am Main. On October 27, 2008 the redesigned Bittersdorffplatz was renamed François-Mitterrand-Platz (François-Mitterrand-Square) in "honour of the outstanding French statesman and politician, the important literary man, and above all, the convincing and committed European, the friend of Germany and the Germans"[1] and this memorial was unveiled.
