Merritt's RCMP detachment is housed in a fairly new and large building on the west side of Highway 5A on the north side of the city.

At 2999 Voght Street, the detachment is adjacent to Highway 5A and less than a kilometer southwest of Highway 5, the major highway through the valley. The size of the force is unknown, but nearly a dozen patrol cars and SUVs were counted in the parking lot.

The detachment is a member of the Citizens on Patrol Campaign, with a separate Community Policing Office downtown on Quilchena Avenue, manned by citizen volunteers.

I have had NO problems with taking photos of Police stations but please respect the fact that some services may be nervous about having their photo taken and inquire as to why... I have found that once things are explained they are more than happy to let me photograph the building, crest, chief... (they are people too!)
