Vynen, a little fisher village, in the Niederrhein region, was first-mentioned 1167. About 1350 they began to build this church - St. Martin. Probably using the tuff and the bricks from the ruins of Colonia Ulpia Traiana, which was a Roman town, close to the city of Xanten.
