The front of the headstone has the family name, "Bessent", at the top, with the Woodmen emblem below it, followed by Mr. Bessent's inscription (where it appears there was some confusion about his middle initial):

J.F. Bessent
Sep. 3, 1859 - May 8, 1907.

His words were kindness, his deeds were love,
His spirit humble rests above.

The reverse of the headstone has the family name, followed by the personal information for both husband and wife:

J.F. Bessent
1859-1907

Wife
Betty F. Bessent
1861-1958
Was the inscription legible?: Yes
