This barbecue was once the home of Al's Chuckwagon, a long time area fixture, but Old House has made itself a local favorite. Gone is the old counter, replaced by a cafeteria-style setup where you can get a good look at the menu on the wall before ordering. Your options are brisket (chopped or sliced), ribs (pork or beef), pulled pork, ham, sausage (regular or jalapeño), turkey, or chicken breast (pulled or sliced). There are a few other things, like cheeseburgers and quesadillas, but come on, you're in a barbecue joint. You can order meat by the pound, but they also serve plates and sandwiches. Sides are smoked beans, onion rings, spicy pinto beans, green beans, corn on the cob, cheesy potatoes, baked potatoes, fries, fried okra, mac and cheese, potato salad, cole slaw, Caesar salad, pasta salad, broccoli salad, cucumber salad, and fruit salad. As meat is available by the pound, you can order as much as you like in order to "pig out," but if you're feeling adventurous, try their large family pack for $46.99. If you're going on the cheap, $4.99 will get you a sandwich and a glass of water. Soft drinks are available, and for dessert, they have pies, cobbler, and banana pudding. There is plenty of seating, and they also can package up your food to go.
