This cemetery was begun around 1870 and contains the remains of many veterans and pioneers of the area. Many deaths were the result of mining and mining relate accidents.

This memorial was created in 1993 in memory of the veterans and pioneers of Philipsburg and Granite County. It consists of a large bronze plaque mounted on a boulder set upon another boulder with an expanse of white rock in front. The memorial is actually outside the cemetery proper, near the southeast corner.
