The mountain itself is relatively insignificant. His fame rests on the rock on the mountain. This also means Asselstein.
The rock is considered the king of rock climbing in the Palatinate Forest. He also gained notoriety by the fact that he was the first rock, which is closed to the peregrine breeding.

The approximately 60 meters long and 10 meters wide reef is 58 meters high at the highest point and consists of the rocks of the lower Buntsandstein (Trifelsschichten). The Asselstein was first climbed in June 1860. He belongs with its nearly 80 routes, eg. B.
