Königswarterové pocházeli údajne z hebrejského kmene Naftali. Podle císarského narízení, kterým si Židé museli poevropštit svá jména, zvolil pak jeho syn Markus Jonas Hirsch jméno podle místa pusobení rodiny, to jest podle západoceského mestecka Kynžvart, nemecky Königswart. Wilhelm Karel Königswarter (1866-1928) zakoupil spolu s manželkou Rosou (* 1868), dcerou londýnského podnikatele Moritze A. Goldschmidta, v roce 1895 velkostatek Solnici se zámkem v nedalekých Kvasinách ve východních Cechách. Zároven vlastnil statky Polany a Papín na Zemplíne. Ke konci života byl Wilhelm Karel Königswarter stižen psychickou chorobou a zemrel za ponekud nevyjasnených okolností v psychiatrické lécebne sebevraždou.
