Roadside America calls Tommy the Largest Turtle in the World at 30 feet tall but W'eel Turtle (
visit link) is 17 miles down the Highway in Dunseith is 40 feet from head to tail. The one here is riding a very large snowmobile.
There's another large turtle, also called Tommy Turtle (
visit link) 32 miles northeast in Boisevain, Manitoba.
These three cities surround the Turtle Mountains which may be one reason for all the turtle statues.
