The monument was dedicated during 1920ies by citizens of village Chotánky eastwardly from Podebrady in Central Bohemia region. 17 names of their killed fellow-citizens is engraved on backside of the monument.
At front side of the memorial there is a sign: NEZAPOMENEME NAŠICH TRPÍCÍCH, i.e. "We do not forget our suffering (fellowcitizens)". There is aklso statue of lion and eagle in front of the memorial. The lion symbolize freshly born independent Czech nation, while the eagle symbolize "dying" Austro-Hungarian Empire.
