The public library of Lörrach is located on Basler Str. 152 in the center of Lörrach.
They have over 90,000 media on stock, about 70,000 books and 20,000 digital media, plus hundreds of games, maps and journals.
In 2012 the library had 148,000 visitors and 459,000 lendings.
The library has its roots in two reading societies of the early 19th century that merged in 1924.
The current location opened in 1992. The building is a former department store, that was built in 1909 in the Art Deco style. It was the first pure concrete building in town. The store belonged to the Jewish family Knopf who escaped from Germany during the Third Reich. The building was acquired by the municipality in 1968 and renovated and modified to a library from 1989 to 1992.
