The remarkable building at the market place was formerly the site of the “gimnasio vel theatro” (1277). The original building of break stones was extended between 1492 and 1498 by framework parts. Its current appearance is the result of restauration works after a fire (1521) and a further change in the years 1539 to 1544. It is considered one of the most beautiful city halls of Europe.
