The FindAGrave record for Thomas Stephens has a biographical sketch of this man who had died near Sarcoxie, and whose remains were brought back to Barry County, where he had lived for so long before his wife's death the previous year. The concrete block marker is abused more and more over time, perhaps by the cemetery maintenance equipment. The T is missing at the very beginning of Thomas, although it is visible in the FindAGrave photo from just 6 months before my photos. Oddly enough, whoever it was that carefully chiseled the letters into this concrete slab turned all of the letters N backward.
