The tomb of Siegfred Hamburger clearly shows the well known symbol for medicine, and a close look at the name also reveals a significant "Dr. Med".

The tombstone shows damages took during the battle of Breslau, in 1945, when German forces transformed the area of the cemetery in a stronghold.

The cemetery itself worth a visit. The Old Jewish Cemetery is now also known as the Museum of Cemetery Arts (Muzeum Sztuki Cmentarnej). Not because it's a museum but because the City decided to charge a ticket to its visitors, allegedly to cover maintenance expenses.

It's a cemetery of average size (4,6 ha), with about 1.200 tombs, all of them old, as it is not in use for burials anymore. The last one took place in 1945. During the last stages of the Second World War there were fierce combats here and after the conflict the cemetery became an abandoned site. It was however considered a "monument" in 1975. It was tranformed in a "museum" in 1991. The ticket is 10 zl.
