[FR] Constance du savoir-faire artisanal, plus le résultat, exquis - la revue « Gault et Millau » de juillet-août a classé au sommet La Martinière, lui décernant le titre de meilleur glacier de France, à égalité avec quatre confrères. Après avoir rendu visite à 350 glaciers, Gault et Millau en a sélectionné 45, et distingué cinq.
C’est en 1970 que Roger et Colette Cathala, boulangers-pâtissiers à Saint-Martin de Ré créent la Martinière.
Des cornets aux sorbets tout est fait maison. De bons produits de a régions, des fruits frais, pas de concervateur... la qualité au RDV.

Although Xavier can’t source all his ingredients on the island, the milk comes from Deux-Sèvres and most fruit (with the exception of exotic varieties) comes from the market in La Rochelle, where his team sources the best produce at full maturity. He uses Ré ingredients where he can – such as goat cheese from Cathérine Lefort in Loix and strawberries from Bruno Knevez in Bois-Plage.
In 2012 Gault-Millau magazine selected this ice cream parlour as one of the 5 best in France!
