Johnstone Park is the oldest park in Bartlesville, purchased in 1903. In the early 1900s, bathhouses along the Caney River enticed hundreds of people to come play and swim in the river below the dam. Today, the park is home to the Bartlesville Art Center, Kiddie Park and beautiful memorial gardens. In addition, the park also hosts the restored and relocated Hulah Train Depot, an early steam locomotive that used to transport Oklahoma oil in tank cars. The park also features an oil patch cannon that was used to shoot holes in oil storage tanks when they caught on fire and the first commercial oil well in the state of Oklahoma, The Nellie Johnstone.

Johnstone Park has four lighted tennis courts, a skate park and is home to Doenges Memorial Baseball Stadium. The peninsula area of the park has shelters, picnic facilities, a well-furnished playground, walking path with benches, restrooms and plenty of parking, including handicap locations. The walking trail offers great views of the river. A grove of historical trees has been added along with the identification of eight centennial trees over a century old. Each winter the park hosts the Festival of Lights during the Christmas season. A six-space RV park with electrical hookups and barbecue grills are available on the north side of the park.
