A relatively easy hike takes you to the base of Sentinel Dome, where you can scramble up the granite slope of the dome (it is not especially steep on its northeast side). From the top, you have spectacular 360° views of Yosemite Valley. From here you can see Half Dome, El Capitan; parts of the high countrysuch as the Clark Range; and waterfalls, including Yosemite, Vernal, and Nevada Falls.
There is a very nice compass rose set in the top of the dome which you can use to orient yourself.
Look for rhe Sentinel Dome/Taft Point trailhead parking area that is 6 miles (9.6 km) east of Bridalveil Creek Campground along the Glacier Point Road.
If the parking there is full, you can park at N 37 43.154, W 119 34.827 and hike up the fire road from there.
