Established in 1914, the school/camp is the oldest, continuously operating, modern dance camp in the United States. They moved to this secluded location after too many 'peeping-toms' in Denver! This bell was to call students to the outdoor theatre.

Perry-Mansfield is recognized as the oldest continuously-operating performing arts school and camp in the nation.
