La ville de Normandin, Québec, a été nommée d'après Laurent-Joseph Normandin, un arpenteur / explorateur qui quitta Québec en 1732 pour se rendre dans la région du Saguenay / Lac-Saint-Jean.
Joseph-Laurent Normandin est né à Québec en 1709.
« Quelques mois après son périple du Saguenay, on retrouve Joseph-Laurent dans la ville de La Rochelle à l'automne 1733, puis à la Martinique où nous perdons sa trace. »

The city of Normandin, Quebec, was named after Joseph-Laurent Normandin, a surveyor / explorer who left Quebec in 1732 to go to the Saguenay / Lac-Saint-Jean area.
Laurent-Joseph Normandin was born in Quebec in 1709.
"A few months after his presence in Saguenay, we find Joseph-Laurent in the city of La Rochelle in the fall of 1733 and then, to Martinique where we lose track of him. "
