Armstrong Post Office

In 1935 the community requested that the Federal government build a new post office to replace the small one that the town was outgrowing.

1940 - January 1 - the new post office opened. Design and concrete and brick building materials were typical of post offices being built in small communities across Canada in the 1930s.
1950 - clock over main entrance was installed.
1954 - September 24 - mail delivery to the post office changed from train to truck.
1965 - phone service was installed.
1940 to 1955 - George W. Dunkley was postmaster.
1955 to 1975 - Melvin Dunkley (George's son) was postmaster.
1975 - due to growth in the community, more work space and lock boxes are added using a brick surround to maintain the integrity of the building.
1982 - additional lock boxes added.
