The anchor is located at the entry of Høruphav harbour on the southern coast of the island of Als at the village of Høruphav, north-east of the Sonderborg bay. There is a modern yacht club with more 300 boats.
The anchor is also near the trailhead of the long distance hiking trail "Gendarmstien". The trail is about 74 km long and leads from Høruphav to Padborg (near Flensborg).
