In the valley of Aburra (Colombia), where the city of Medellin is located, the powerful Chief Nutibara used to reign. This native chief became legendary for leading the rebellion of the Indian tribes against the spanish conquistadores.

This statue is comprised of three figures the chief, an Indian woman and a cougar at their feet, as a symbol of courage and power. It is made of patinated concrete, weighs four tons and measures 3 m high by 2.9 m wide. The sculpture was done by teacher José Horacio Betancur Betancur in 1955. The sculpture is located near the Pueblito Paisa on Cerro Nutibara.
