In years past there was an auto salvage yard in the immediate area. The hood was an advertisement for the junkyard. As a wee child of five years old, we made the trek to High Point, NC every other weekend. I always looked for the funny metal thing attached to the tree. A few years back while caching in the area, I again saw the old hood as I pulled a magnetic key box from the underside of the old hood. Well after leaving an event sponsored by a local cacher in the area, I decided to see if I could find that old hood and tree again. Well, sure enough the tree was still munching on the hood. The old hickory tree is still standing and still hosting the hood. It is covered over with vegetation but one can still push aside the branches and see it.
Type of Tree: Hickory
