This broad expanse of prairie in this area was named Kings Prairie by the early settlers. Originally the church here was called Kings Prairie, just like the cemetery and school. But the church is now called New Liberty Methodist Church. According to FindAGrave, although there are a few graves without dates, the earliest recorded grave is from 1872.
