Lt Simon Carter is offered a safe job by his influential father in law, but instead becomes a Wellington bomber pilot. On mission in May 1940 he is shot down and parachutes to ground. He steals clothes from a priest’s washing line. The priest does not give Carter away when he goes to mass, however Carter is caught outside church and the priest is arrested. On the way to prison Carter and the priest overcome the guards and steal the truck. The pair separate and Carter is eventually caught. After an escape from a POW camp, Carter is transferred to Colditz.
