Stations of this type were known as Canadian Northern 3rd class stations. Built from a Canadian Northern plan (Plan 72) to replace a small, earlier, freight and passenger station, there were a total of 57 stations built on the prairies using this plan between 1915 and 1924, 21 in Alberta, 29 in Saskatchewan and 7 in Manitoba.

Originally built with wood shiplap siding, it was stuccoed in 1939. Though the railway line was closed in 1989, the station saw the end of passenger service a decade or two before that time. The station was restored in the 1980s by the Canadian Northern Society.

Though I'm not certain, this station may be open as a museum during summer months.
