This population, altitude and "Total" sign is mounted on the piling of an old railway overpass at the old south entrance to Philipsburg, MT.

This is the
old entrance to Philipsburg because there is now a
new entrance to Philipsburg. This was part of the old Highway 10A which ran south to Anaconda. The new highway, Highway 1, follows pretty much the same route but enters the town well to the west of this entrance. This sign would have been placed here many years ago, but it is evident that it has been kept up, as it is in quite good condition.
Now, if someone would just explain what the TOTAL 6123 on the sign means...
