A time capsule placed in celebration of the United States bicentennial, and not to be opened for a century afterwards. The time capsule is buried near Ironton City Hall, at the corner of 3rd St. and Irene Ave. It was placed by the local American Legion post. The marker is a quarter cylinder of pink granite. At upper left and upper right are symbols of the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary.

The inscription reads:

REOPEN - AUG. 1, 2076
PLACED BY,
MYRIN JAMES POST 443
THE AMERICAN LEGION
IRONTON, MINNESOTA
