This station, a U.S. Department of Interior / National Park Service standard disk, located on Assateague Island, MD.
It is located near the east side of a paved bicycle trail that runs parallel to the east side of Stephen Decatur Memorial Road (aka Berry Ferry Dr), the roadway that leads to Assateague Island National Park:
The station approximately 0.5-mi. south from the junction of MD SR 611, 30-ft southeast from the center of the roadway, 6-ft southeast from a split rail wooden fence, and 20-ft southwest from a large metal utility cabinet on a raised wooden platform.
The disk is mounted on the top of a steel rod driven to refusal, and is surrounded by a 4-inch diameter white ABS sleeve. The disk is flush with the ground surface. A Carsonite witness post is positioned approximately 1-ft southeast from the mark, and is clearly visible from the roadway.
Beware of deer ticks.
